About Us

Development Services offers one-stop permit shopping for land and building development in Bellevue and the surrounding service areas. Planners, engineers, inspectors, code compliance officers and support staff from the Development Services, FireTransportation and Utilities departments help homeowners, business owners and professionals in the construction industry navigate the permitting process.

Our work entails reviewing plans, inspecting projects and investigating code violations. This service ensures that projects are safe and aligned with federal, state, and city codes.

For information about Bellevue's Comprehensive Plan and long-range planning projects, see Planning & Community Development.

Our Mission:

Facilitate appropriate and timely development by:

  • Delivering a process that is predictable, efficient, and understandable to the people who use it.
  • Acting as a single organization – “One-City” – in the delivery of development services, not separate departments working independently.
  • Ensuring that we protect the quality of the public and private infrastructure, the safety and integrity of the built environment, and the livability of the city.
